#2 Karla Rauch And Her Family
Karla Rauch has two sons named Ethan, 7, and Emmett, 5. Around 4 years ago, she almost lost Emmett thanks to a little lapse in parenting. Karla and her husband Michael were on the brink of losing Emmett, after the then-1-year-old tot swallowed a tiny lithium button battery. As parents, they should've taken care of something as toxic and harmful as this but honestly, you cannot really blame them for this as the battery came out of their DVD remote.
This tiny mishap became the first step of the ladder full of horrifying events. Little Emmett, who had just celebrated his first birthday, found the battery and swallowed it. What happened with him next will give you goosebumps.

Initially, when he suffered from fever, his parents took him to a doctor but nothing was detected. Later, when he started coughing blood is when things got serious. The Doctor still thought it to be a regular case of croup but just to be safe, she followed her gut instinct and instructed his parents to rush to the ER.
That is when a team of emergency room staffers found the button battery on an x-ray, and realized that the acid from the battery had drastically damaged the little boy's esophagus and digestive tract. Somehow, they saved his life. It took him around 65 surgeries in 4 years to become perfectly fit. Man, this kid is a fighter!
