#7 The Lantern
Located in Ohio, the Lantern Of Chagrin Valley in Chagrin Falls is one among the three amazing facilities that have been built and designed specifically for Alzheimer's and dementia patients.

#6 More than you think
Don't let its outside fool you because it's inside is something you would have never guessed. In the inside of the facility, you have designs like small houses, complete with porches that lead out to a golf course. The living facility was primarily developed to resemble a community back in the 1940's.

#5 Unique Facility
The attention to detail is immaculate! From the paint scheme to the porch designs everything is made to resemble those from the 1940's time period.
It goes without much saying that the Lantern is an incredibly unique living facility.
In order to recreate the feel and effect of daylight and starry sky atmosphere in the building, special fiber optics in the ceiling have been used.

#4 Effort
The floors in the facility are painted green to mimic grass and a variety of natural sound effects like that of birds chirping are played throughout the day.
"Every little thing you see, the wall color, the paint, actually has a therapeutic benefit, a therapeutic value," CEO Jean Makesh told the News-Herald.
Makesh is a trained occupational therapist who came up with this idea for a perfect environment for these special patients.

#3 Controlled Environment
It has been found that controlled environments lead to major reductions in anxiety, anger, and depression. And understanding this significance, Jean Makesh decided to incorporate these ideas into a constructive living experience.
That's not all, Lantern provides its residents with a variety of classes daily that help in re-learning and retaining basic skills and functions.

#2 Positive Change
"I take them back to those memories. I create a time capsule. It enables them to embrace everything around them," Makesh told reporters.
Makesh hopes that his contributions in rehabilitation for these patients afflicted with Alzheimer's and dementia will produce a large amount of positive change.

#1 For them
By using this controlled setting, Makesh hopes to slow the progression of similar diseases on a long term scale.
But it is no doubt that with this unique facility, Makesh is bringing new hope to challenging age-related disease.
