Baby Girl Cries With A High Fever. Then Dad Takes Off Her Sock And Sees It On Her Toe...

#4 Never Seen Before

Scott's daughter was throwing fits of crying more than often and they knew something wasn't right. She had a temperature all the time. The couple knew this wasn't normal because she wasn't their first-born child, they'd had a daughter three years ago.

Both of them decided to inspect Molly. When Scott took her socks off, they saw the source of the problem. It was something they had never seen before...

#3 The Hair Tourniquet

On Molly's tiny baby toes there was something that looked like a hair wrapping her feet's index finger. The phenomenon is called the hair tourniquet.

A single strand of hair wraps around a finger or toe cutting off blood supply from that point to the rest of the body part. Consequences could be similar to anoxia during delivery resulting in cell death and a high fever.

That was exactly what was happening with Molly and it had to be treated right away. Molly's mother came up with an ingenious method of solving the problem...

#2 Problem Solved!

Molly's mother is quite the doctor when the time calls for it. She managed to pluck the hair off with a pair of tweezers and a magnifying glass. And it was done! Problem solved.

Here's a picture of Molly 45 minutes after. She definitely looks happier! Unfortunately, the hair managed to cut through her skin and there was a bit of bleeding. But it could have been much worse, had it been kept untreated.

#1 You Need To Know

Scott decided to tell this story to the world because he knows parenting isn't an easy job, in fact it is the most difficult job in the world.

It's not a very common problem but it never hurts to know because you do not want to risk the health of your baby under any circumstances. Parents who have had pre-term babies are especially likely to face this problem.

"The doctor told me, for future reference, to always check the toes if the baby is inconsolable. Just an FYI to any parents or care takers out there."

Don't forget to share this with your friends and family. You never know whom you might end up helping.
