Usually, we don't give much damn about Traffic rules. Well because, sometimes we think we are too cool for them. But for a safe ride, all of us should obey all the traffic rules.
Also, obeying traffic rules does not end with obeying all the signals properly. There's much more to traffic rules than signals. For instance, these white and yellow color lines. Now every line depicts something.
#6 Broken white line
So there are two types of white lines, Broken white line and Solid White line. Now, broken white line indicates that you are allowed to change lane, but with caution. So only do it if it is safe.

#5 Solid White Line
Solid White Line indicates that you must not change lanes and should stay in the lane you are already on. Changing lanes id sort of banned here.
#4 One Solid Yellow line
One solid yellow line on the other hand indicates that passing or overtaking other vehicles is allowed, but you cannot cross the yellow line. Although, this rule varies from state to state.
#3 Double solid yellow lines
Double solid yellow lines means that you are not allowed to pass or overtake.
#2 Broken Yellow Line
A broken Yellow Line means that you are allowed to pass or overtake but with caution.
#1 Solid Yellow Line With Broken Yellow Line
Now this can be tricky. It means that if you are driving on the side of the broken line, you're allowed to overtake but if you're driving on the side of the solid line, you're not.
