It was an eventful turn in his life when he opted for full face transplant. Mitchell is the third person in the US who received the full-face transplant. He was operated for almost 14 hours wherein he got his new eyelids, muscles and nose!

Today, after years of having his surgery done, he could feel all the sensations on his face. "Hot, cold, pain, tickle, rubbing my beard, someone kissing my face, I can feel everything," Mitchell explains.
He is much stronger than before now! He feels it from within! He himself accepts that this accident had changed his life a lot more than anybody would've imagined. He no longer looks back at it like an destructive accident, but rather he accepts it as a part of life that made him what he is today!
