#3 ROVs
An ROV or remotely operated vehicle is a mobile robot designed to work in aquatic environments. Diving underwater and actually going down there can be an expensive and unsafe affair. ROVs are a wonderful alternative because they are controlled remotely by copper or fibre-optic cables. It's pretty cool.
Not all ROVs do boring research and come back up. Some run into stuff that is utterly fascinating. Here's a story of when researchers ran into something completely unexpected! You will be fascinated!

#2 The Surprise
ROV Hercules dove deep underwater off the coast of Louisiana. Everything was going as expected, until a massive surprise came along. 1,962 ft. below sea level, they encountered a sperm whale. In case you didn't know, the sperm whale is the largest of toothed whales and the largest toothed predator as well! It is 12m long and weighs 15,000 kg!
Enough facts! Keep reading to watch the video! It is one of the rarest sights in aquatic research.
