She was suspicious
Kids are full of surprises. Dylan surprised his mother when he asked for 2 lunches instead of just one. Josette was surprised by the awry request. She was worried if Dylan was getting full form of food, and started asking a lot of questions.
Dylan revealed the truth
Dylan then revealed that he wanted the second lunch for his friend. Dylan told her that this boy, he wanted to take lunch to, didn't have enough money and so he only ate fruit cup each day.
Josette said...
The boy's mother was a single mother who had recently lost her job because of which the boy was not able to get a proper meal. Josette said, “This hits home to me because a few years ago, I and my son were homeless, I was living in my car and I was washing him in bathrooms. And we didn’t have food.â€
Moved by the request
Josette was moved by her son's request, and she immediately resumed to the task of making 2 lunches and promised to continue the same each day.
She was called by the Principal
After some days, Josette was called by the Principal, only to find the boy's mother there to that her for her generosity and kindness, she had scraped all her money to give to Josette.
Fundraiser
But Josette has a big heart and so she didn't accept the money and gladly requested to help her further in the future. Josette is a girl's team volleyball coach, so she organized a fundraiser to help children like Dylan's friend.
Kindness is all we need
Her team raced $400 which they used to buy lunches for the kids who couldn't afford to pay for the food at the school. Josette said, “So now, nobody in that school owes any money, and now everyone can eat." This shows how kindness is all you need to make the world a better place to live in.
