In 2011, Japan suffered a great deal with the 2011 TÅhoku earthquake and the Tsunami. But it is a tough nation because just 6 years later it's completely rebuilt itself and back on its feet.

#8 Similar Process
The artist Manabu says that he wanted to show the transformation as Japan rebuilt itself.

#7 The Painting is a 13×10 foot piece.
Manabu started working on it back in 2013, he spent 6 days a week, 10 hours a day and 3.5 years to complete it.

It shows a tree growing majestically out of the destruction left behind.....

#5 But when you look closely....
There's a lot of tiny details that tell a story of their own.

"My goal is to faithfully express my view of the world in my composition, but I don't intentionally depict detailed images," he told the Chazen Museum of Art.

"Because I see details when I observe things, rather than the whole, I find pen and ink to be the best tools to express how I see them," he continues.
