If you are travelling by plane, you are bound to get a little uncomfortable because there is a problem in things no matter how good it is. There is no chance that they will assure you how the other passengers might behave. The crew is also a big reason behind how you feel about flying and it is indeed a very hard job to take care of the passengers. And do you know where they relax? Well, it might as well be better than your seats.
You’re not thinking about the crew.
When they provide us service, we do appreciate their work, but we don't really get to know where they spend their free time. This is because we are only concerned about our comfort and don't really give a thought about theirs.
Have you ever noticed a sign like this on the plane?
Have you ever noticed this sign? It is for the crew members only. Unlike other signs, this has many rules and regulations to it. I wonder if they are all followed.
But where is this “crew rest area†the sign speaks of?
The crew has to rest possibly in a small space without windows which are hidden somewhere on the plane. But this is like a sanctuary for the hard-working flight attendants.
Pilots often have them, too.
It is not very luxurious on models like the Boeing 777, pilots get their own bunks with a first-class chair, and room for a closet, sink, and bathroom.
Judging by the cramped accommodations you’re sitting in, it’s surprising that there’s this extra space on the plane.
But it won't really be as luxurious as you think it might be. It is as compact as your sitting space. It is just meant to relax and not to really party.
There isn’t much privacy, either.
The crew has to okay with sharing communal space because the bunks are separated by the retractable screens. They even have a small personal storage space.
There’s also a hidden staircase.
There is also a secret narrow staircase behind a door that crew members walk up. Just like in Harry Potter.
Then there’s the matter of the sheer amount of staff that long flights require.
When the flights are more than 12 hours, the pilot and the crew changes, taking two shits, which is when the crew only resting place are in the most need. Also, it should have many bunks as the whole crew might want to take rest. This looks cozy, indeed!
But no matter how luxurious or spartan the crew’s quarters happen to be, one thing is for certain.
If you are travelling by the economy class then the crew members have definitely better seats than yours.
