Coldest Places On The Earth

Plateau Station, Antarctica

This place is cooler than you deep freezer. This is second coldest place on Earth which was closed down back in 1969. The coldest month is July, with the temperature of -84 Celsius degrees.

Oymyakon, Russia

The picture itself tells you how cold this is.  This is the coldest Place in Russia, and considering the fact that the country has some of the harshest winters in the world, you can only imagine how cold this place is. The coldest month of the year if February when the temperature went down to – 71.1 Celsius degrees. A human being can’t stay outside for longer than several minutes. Hair, eyelashes and eyebrows are instantly getting frost and the air so cold it is impossible to breathe normally. The ground there is permanently frozen

Verkhoyanks, Russia

Verkhoyanks is so cold that its not possible for normal human being to survive. It is one of those places in Russia that have extreme temperatures differences between the short and cool summers and the extremely cold and long winters. The winter time is the coldest of all and lasts longer than most summers in Russia. The coldest temperature measured in this place was -67.7 on the Celsius scale.

Fort Selkirk, Yukon, Canada

This place is a live refrigerator. With lovely snowy landscape, this place would remind you of the winter scenery of the movie Frozen. Fort Selkirk was a former trading post on the Yukon River at the confluence of the Pelly River in Canada’s Yukon. However, in 1950 this place was deserted because of extreme cold conditions. Half century later, the places is inhabited again but is only accessible via a boat or a plane. The coldest month is January and the lowest temperature is -58 Celsius degrees. Frozen indeed. Sometimes i wonder whether you get ice-creams here?

Snag, Yukon, Canada

Snag  is again a very cold place on earth. The village is located on a small, dry-weather side road off the Alaska Highway 25 km south of Beaver Creek, Yukon, Canada. The sky is almost always foggy and grey, and the deathly freezing wind is constantly blowing. Coldest month is again January and the lowest temperature recorded is -63 Celsius degrees.

Prospect Creek, Alaska, USA

This is the coldest place in USA. This place is considered to be the coldest place in the USA. Prospect Creek is a small settlement approximately 290 kilometers north of Fairbanks and 40 kilometers southeast of Bettles, Alaska. It has a sub-arctic type of weather which means that winters last awfully long time and summers are extremely short. Weather conditions are even more severe now so the area is less crowded now. The coldest temperature recorded is -62 Celsius degrees.

Rogers Pass, Montana, the USA

Another bone freezing place in USA. This places ranks as the tenth coldest place in the world and is especially famous for all the geese that fly this way in the winter. The coldest months are March and April and the lowest recorded temperature ever measured was -57 Celsius degrees. Apparently the birds can endure it.

North Ice, Greenland

Greenland is probably one of the most cold countries in the world as a whole. Surprisingly, this place “only” got the fifth place in the list of world’s coldest places. The lowest temperature ever measured here was -66 Celsius degrees. People don’t live here, and the place was a “home” once of a research station.

Eismitte, Greenland

Again a place from Greenland. This place is located on the interior Arctic side of Greenland. It has ice everywhere of course, and therefore the name Mid-Ice or Center-Ice (translated from German). The coldest temperature on record is -64 Celsius degrees.

Vostok, Antarctica

Vostok is the coldest place on our planet. Vostok is another place on Earth that experiences some the coldest temperatures ever. But that is natural because the place is located in the South Pole. The coldest month in Vostok is August where the lowest recorded temperature ever was -89.2 on the Celsius scale.
