Their hope didn't fade
Roy and Bernita Rogers from Kansas City, Missouri were planning to have a baby, after a few years of marriage, but due to unfortunate circumstances, they suffered the pain of losing three premature babies. But their hope didn't fade away.

Good fortune
Bernita got a cat to fill the emptiness of a baby. They got a mesmerizing black cat and named it midnight. The cat was more of a good fortune for the family, as Bernita got pregnant shortly, and delivered a baby girl. They named her Stacey.

Protective pet
Stacey and Midnight got along really well, and midnight was very protective of her little human friend. One day, Stacey was feeling sick but when her parents took her to the doctor, he said that it was just a minor cold. When they came back home, they put Stacey to sleep so that she could rest well while midnight was on watch, with the baby monitor on.

The daunting scream
But then, a scream on the motion Bernita and Roy heard, skipped their hearts a bit. Bernita said, “It was this screech-wail-scream-cry. It was frightening enough that I jumped out of the chair and ran upstairs." When both the parents rushed to Stacey's room, they saw Stacey was struggling hard to breathe.

The cat saved it's friend
But that was not it, Stacey was turning blue so they ran to the ER. It was really hard for her parents to see her that way, but she was recovering soon. If it was not for Midnight, watching over her little friend, they would have never known. The cat was smart enough to alarm the parents at the right time.
