#5 THE IDEA!

10-year-old Benjamin Giroux was given an assignment in school and he had to write a poem for it!

Taking this as an opportunity to let his classmates into his wonderful world of chaos, he decided to pen down his thoughts in a poem titled 'I am'

Benjamin suffers from Autism and life hasn't really been conventionally "normal" for him!

Like most other kids with Autism all around the world, Benjamin too has gone through peer trouble, adjustment issues and bonding woes!

Being autistic, Benjamin has always felt ‘different’ when compared to his peers.

While he wishes he could be treated the same as everyone else, he understands his autism makes him different. So, in his poem "I AM" he does his level best to let people know what it is to be him!

#2 THE LETTER!

In his assignment, Benjamin writes "I feel like a boy in outer space / I touch the stars and feel out of place" or “I say I 'feel like a castaway' / I dream of a day that thats okay."

When his father Sonny read it, he was overcome with emotions, and it’s easy to see why.

#1 THE VIRAL POEM!

The father says, about the poem, " “We were both so proud, and yet so heartbroken, that this was how he felt."

The poem has gone viral on the Internet since it was first posted. The National Autism Association highlighted Benjamin’s poem and shared it with all of its followers.

This poem is the most honest revelation by a person with autism and it coming from a child, means so much more!
