#7 Love is in the air.
The roles played by Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles hated each other in the film, but they eventually fell in love with each other off camera.
According to the 10th Anniversary commentary by the cast, Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles began dating during the filming.

#6 Julia Stiles cried real tears while reading her poem.
The scene in which Kat reads the "10 Things" poem was the first and only take. Kat's tears towards the end of the poem were not planned.
Kat reads a poem listing all of the things she hates about Patrick, and starts crying when she reveals she doesn't hate him, "Not even a little bit, not even at all."

#5 And Kat doesn't actually hate 10 things about Patrick, more like 14.
At the end of the movie when Kat shares her sonnet, she describes 10 things she hates about Patrick and she actually read off 14 things instead of 10.

#4 Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character learns French so that he can impress Bianca.
Cameron James (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) learns French in order to tutor Bianca (Larisa Oleynik). In real life, Joseph Gordon-Levitt speaks French fluently.

#3 Julia gave the director the idea to make Heath sing on the soccer field.
According to Larisa Oleynik, it was Julia Stiles who suggested Frankie Valli's "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" for Heath Ledger to singer to her on the football field.

#2 Switching the role.
Julia Stiles originally auditioned for the role of Bianca Stratford. And even though in the movie she's older than her by two years, Julia Stiles is only three months older than Larisa Oleynik who played Bianca.

#1 The dance scene helped Julia Stiles.
The scene where Julia dances drunk on the table at a party lead her to get the leading role in Save the Last Dance (2001).
