Gina Headen

This woman shared her story of a time when she was struggling through hard times and the empathy that a cop offered to her.

Gina Headen posted the touching story on Facebook, writing, “Last week I was pulled over for going 65 in a 55. The officer took my license and registration. While I sat and waited I was reminiscing about my dad like always lately.”

Lucky day

Gina added, “The officer returned to my car and said it’s your lucky day, we were born on the same day and year, slow down and have a good day. I smiled and said thank you. He walked away and I broke down and started crying. Thinking he was back in his car. He surprised me and tapped on my window asking if I was ok.”

The card

Headen further explained, “I told him I was sad, I just lost my dad. He said take a minute and breathe. He talked to me a minute then helped me back into traffic.

Today [a week later] I received this beautiful card in the mail. Thank you, Deputy Dan Hill #227 of St. Clair County Sheriff’s Department.”

The card read, “My condolence on the loss of your father. I’m sure he was a great man who loved his family. I pray that your tears of sadness become tears of joy in remembering his legacy.”

Bible passage

In the letter, deputy Dan Hill also included a touching bible passage: “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more. Neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore; for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)

Empathy

It was really kind for that cop to show empathy towards Gina. He could have easily let this thing pass away but instead he showed kindness and this what is needed in the world, which will make it a better place to live in.
