#4 The Phone Call That Changed Everything
Let us warn you before you read the entire story. You are going to sob and sob real hard. This is a story of Danielle. Today she is alive thanks to a phone call made by her once upon a time estranged neighbours.
When police officer Mark Holste from Florida received a call on July 13th or 2005, he didn't realize this would be a call that would change someone's life forever.

#3 The Condition Of The House
According to the neighbour, someone was living in that house from 3 years but there were never any signs of a kid staying in as well. But then this man saw a pale yellow face near the window and called up police.
The officer knocked on the door. Little did he know was that a horrible sight is waiting inside for him to see. Cockroaches everywhere and animal waste throughout, as well as chewed food, spiderwebs and trash all over the place. Do not even get me started on the condition of the girl. This is just very depressing.
Take a look...

#2 Poor Girl
Danielle was sitting in the middle of trash wearing nothing but a dirty diaper. She was starved. The officer said, "When I entered the room, her eyes widened. She opened her mouth and then crawled sideways, like a crab, to the corner, pulled her knees to her chin, and wrapped her arms around them. Then she started making grunting noises."
She was rushed to hospital immediately. She was so badly treated by her mother (child abuser) that even though she was 6 years old, she spoke like a 6 month old baby. Her brain was underdeveloped. She almost died of hunger.
The mom was sent to jail where she initially stayed for 26 hours, but eventually was sentenced to 2 years of house arrest and 3 years of probation.

#1 Finally!
Finally, just before her 8th birthday, Danielle was indeed adopted by the family. The psychological wounds run extremely deep and life for Danielle was far from easy. According to her new father, "She has 7 or 8 fits everyday. And she's very concerned with food. She often eats until she has to throw up."
Danielle is now 15 and is apparently doing better. She is very close to her Dad. "She's a 2-year-old in the body of a 15-year-old girl", her Dad said.
