John Huges, the movie's reclusive director had a cameo in the movie towards the ending. John Huges played the role of Mr.Johnson. He is the one who drives Anthony Michael Hall in the ending.
#6 Vanity Plates
Anyone notice the number plates on the nerd's parent's cars? It says EMC2 which is Einstein’s theory of relativity while the truck dropping and picking up the jock has OHIOST. Which is probably where the jock is being forced to attend or happens to be his old man's alma mater...or it could be both.
#5 The Torched Locker
In the opening credit scenes, if you have noticed there's a locker banged up pretty good. It's like something exploded inside it. Like a flare gun. It did. That's Brian Johnson's locker.

Look closely and you will soon realize that the wise and sassy janitor was the Man of the Year in 1969. And now 15 years later, he's where he is.
#3 Hacking
Hacking was actually a big problem back then. At least it was enough problem for the school to post a sign saying 'Hackers will be expelled.' This is more or less a nod to the 80's films like Tron and Wargames, which opened a whole new world of possibilities for ....h-c-ing.

The guidance counsellor's name? Dr.R.Hasimoto? It actually a way of honoring the production supervisor Richard Hashimoto of The Breakfast Club. Guess what? He also worked on Wargames.

Did anyone notice that Bender(Judd Nelson) has like a bluish silver streak in his hair? It's more visible on Blu-ray. The thing about it? It keeps disapperaing and appearing throughout the movie!
