#7 Meet Turia Pitt.
Turia Pitt, a beautiful 25-year-old mining engineer working her dream job in the far north of Western Australia, entered an ultra-marathon race that would change her life forever.

#5 She spent more than two years in hospital after the incident.
Turia was put in an induced coma in the Burns Unit at Sydney's Concord Hospital. She had to have four fingers and a thumb amputated, and intense psychotherapy. She had undergone at least 200 operations. She spent two years in hospital, wearing a compression mask which helped her to smooth the scars and eventually heal them.

#4 Always by her side.
Turia Pitt's boyfriend, Michael Hoskin, has been by her side since the very beginning of her hospital experience. He became her all time caretaker. After the incident, he stopped working entirely to look after her. When the reporters ask Michael about his feelings, he replied "If she can walk in agony and... do all the physio they're asking her, I can be there in the morning and give her breakfast and be there all the time. That's easy for me."

#3 True love.
When reporters asked him if he had ever considered leaving her, and his answer melted hearts, "I married her soul, her character, and she's the only woman that will continue to fulfill my dreams." Turia even tried her best to push him away, but he never left her and showed her that she was always been loved. As her full-time caretaker for over three years, it was like a burden on their relationship, but they held on. And now they are engaged to be married.

#2 "When Turia was in intensive care four years ago, I bought a diamond ring." he said.
They have known each others since their school days, and as her life partner they had talked about their marriage since beginning as long as as she could remember, but yet the proposal was a big surprise for her.

#1 She is still healing every day, and not just physically.
After her recovery she started running again, and right now she is working with Interplast, its a charity club that provides free re-constructive surgery in underdeveloped countries.
