The World Is In Danger Thanks To The Rapid Changes In Climate
No prizes for guessing that our world is in massive danger thanks to all the nature-anti activities we humans indulge into. The things are slowly turning from bad to worse and there's no stopping.
Right from record-setting heat waves in Pakistan and India to London reaching 98 degrees Fahrenheit during the hottest July day ever, everything is happening at the same time.
#6 The Discovery
On July 20th, James Hansen, the former NASA climatologist who brought climate change to the public's attention in the summer of 1988, dropped a bomb in the world of climate related studies!
He along with a team of climate scientists had identified a newly important feedback mechanism off the coast of Antarctica that suggests mean sea levels could rise 10 times faster than previously predicted: 10 feet by 2065.
Keep reading ahead to see what else is going to happen thanks to change in climate.
#5 The Predictions
They said, "We conclude that multi-meter sea-level rise would become practically unavoidable. Social disruption and economic consequences of such large sea-level rise could be devastating. It is not difficult to imagine that conflicts arising from forced migrations and economic collapse might make the planet ungovernable, threatening the fabric of civilization."
Other experts have their own opinion on this new prediction. Eric Rignot, a climate scientist at NASA and the University of California-Irvine and a co-author on Hansen's study, said their new research doesn't necessarily change the worst-case scenario on sea-level rise, it just makes it much more pressing to think about and discuss, especially among world leaders.
Hansen's new study also shows how complicated and unpredictable climate change can be. We just saw that it is deteriorating with every passing second.
Even as global ocean temperatures rise to their highest levels in recorded history, some parts of the ocean, near where ice is melting exceptionally fast, are actually cooling, slowing ocean circulation currents and sending weather patterns into a frenzy. So somewhere down the line, even weather change cannot decide whether to bully we humans or not.
#3 Not The Most Disturbing Change
"This is yet another example of where observations suggest that climate model predictions may be too conservative when it comes to the pace at which certain aspects of climate change are proceeding", Michael Mann, a climate scientist said.
And yet, these aren't even the most disturbing changes happening to the Earth's biosphere that climate scientists are discovering this year. The condition within the Oceans is even worse.
#2 Condition Of Oceans
You pick up Oceans and you'll see how bad the condition is. Water temperatures this year in the North Pacific have never been this high for this long over such a large area.
And this, we are talking about only one Ocean! Whales are surprisingly coming very close to the shore, the pattern of climate change unevenly changes its course and what not!
#1 The Conclusion
The conclusion to the entire thing is pretty simple. Unpredictable things are happening and they happening faster that we expected. SO be ready for the worst.
