Escobar is known as the richest criminal to have ever lived. In fact, Narcos, the Netflix series, is about the rise and fall of the Medellin (Colombia) cartel kingpin.

#5 Richest Criminal
Escobar was born in 1949 in a small city a short distance from the Colombian city of Medellin. He was still a kid when he had his first exposure to the criminal world with petty crimes that got bigger and bigger.
The man was known for his incredible smartness and powerful tone. In fact, at the peak of his criminal 'career' in the 90's, his net worth was of about $30 billion.
Indeed, he is the richest criminal our world has ever seen.
#4 In Mid 70's
The man soon started working for Alvaro Prieto, a renowned drug smuggler who used electronics to transport his product. His life was yet not changed.
It was in mid 70's when the world actually started taking note of this soon to be drug lord. Escobar had established himself as the main means for most American in the 70s and 80s to do [email protected]
#3 The Illegal Supply
During his peak, Escobar was spending $1000 a week on rubber bands to hold all of the money he was making and this was just the beginning. A very humble beginning.
He then formed the Medellin cartel with six other "businessmen", and once that was established, he was making $60 million a day. The amount of drugs this man was supplying illegally in USA is unbelievable.
#2 The Policy
By this time, he was controlling 80% of the world's cocaine supply, and was wealthy enough to transport it into the US by submarine. Just to avoid getting caught, he enforced the 'silver or lead' policy.
The policy was very simple. Either bribe the policemen coming in his way or kill the policemen who do not accept his bribe. But all things come to an end and even this did.
#1 La Catedral
Police force went after him when a prominent presidential candidate named Luis Carlos Galan was assassinated. He got arrested but somehow arranged to have special treatment and his own private prison, known as La Catedral. He kept working from within his private prison.
When authorities discovered this, they decided to move him to the state prison. Escobar found out, and he escaped. He was then on the run both from Colombia and the USA. Ultimately, it was 2nd December 1993, one day after his 44th birthday when he was killed by Colombian police.
"He committed suicide, he did not get killed. During all the years they went after him, he would say to me every day that if he was really cornered without a way out, he would shoot himself through the ears." one of his very close relative said. Now this was one heck of a life!
