17 People Describe Their Scariest Family Secrets.
"Today I came to know the actual secret of my mother. You'll be shocked to hear that my older sister is actually my mother, and my father was my mother's (actually grandmother) husband."
They don't yet know that I have discovered their little secret.
#16 Deadly argument.
"Once my great grandfather and his wife had an argument. The argument went too far and my great grandfather hit his wife with a fire poker, and slit her throat. Because of feeling guilty for whatever he did, he then decided to blow his head apart with a shotgun. He sat in a rocking chair and used his cane to push the trigger. All this scene happened when I was out in the grocery store to get some milk."
#15 Murder of the mistress.
My great grandfather had put up a 17-year-old mistress in his apartment. When my great-grandmother came to know about it, she didn't liked it and killed the 17-year-old mistress with a gun shot in the apartment.
At present my great-grandfather serves the time in prison for the murder.
#14 Father's blackmail.
"When my uncle (mom's brother) was 16 years old, he killed my mother's parents and burnt down their house in order to cover it up. He has been in jail on a life sentence. I have never meet him, or seen his face because this incident took place before I was born. I was only informed of his existence because my dad was blackmailing my mom with this."
#13 Disturbed Mother.
"When I was a child, my mother used to tell me creepy stories, which was very much disturbing for a child to hear. The story would include plots like bodies being chopped up and thrown down in a well. I always used to wonder 'didn't she had some nice stories to tell?' I suspected that my mother was in some sort of cult or something as a child. Her childhood itself was very disturbing (parents forced her and raped her, I think)."
#12 Love in mental instability.
"My grandparents met each other in a mental hospital. My grandmother used to work there and grandfather was a patient. At that time he was married, but since he never got a divorce their marriage was not considered as 'legal.'"
#11 Murdered with an axe.
My uncle is presently serving a lifetime prison sentence because he was found guilty for murdering a prostitute with an axe."
#10 All because of a mental illness.
"My aunt is a schizophrenic, and recently under its influence she had burned down her house and crucified her cats."
#9 Curse of depression.
"It was a time when I was 20 years old, my grandmother jumped off a cliff and killed herself after she received shock therapy to cure her depression. It was the winter when she went missing from our house. Later they found her footprints in the snow that led up to the cliff. My cousin told me this, and he was 18 years old when this incident took place.
#8 Past crime confession.
"My uncle who is an ex-drug dealer was very much drunk one day that he confessed something to my dad. He said, when he used to live in Juarez, Mexico he murdered two guys. (I was eavesdropping)."
#7 A mystery behind her disappearance.
My grandmother just disappeared one day from her house and no one heard about it. The local people told us that she went back to her home country (Japan), leaving behind two daughters. There was only one person who would know the reason behind her disappearance, the only person with answers would have been my Grandpa but he didn't ever talked about it, and took whatever he knew to the grave."
#6 Small town secrets.
"My moms boyfriend's dad murdered his wife by running her over with a car. Since we are from a small area it was a big deal at the time."
#5 Creepy family history.
"When my uncle was 15 years old, he was kidnapped for two years. He's never spoken of it to this day.
"Also my other uncle who lives in Nebraska was a hippie stoner in 1960's, and his wife, i.e my aunt is a mail-ordered bride.
#4 Dream friend.
"My aunt committed suicide when I was three years old and my older sister was four at that time. It was my older sister who told my mom that 'Aunt Pam is playing in the garage.' And they found her dead in her car. It was quite strange that how come my older sister knew about all this, when we asked her she said that her 'dream friend' told her about it. Recently me and my sister was talking about this and we found out that, she used to talk to this 'dream friend,' who came to her first in a dream about a graveyard."
#3 Family name is the main priority here.
"There is person in our family who is a pedophile and also a misogynist, his soul purpose in his life is to molest girls and ruin their lives. He had raped a seven-year-old girl who lived next door, and also abused my aunts. Even after all this no one took any action against him. Everyone was quite until his wife divorced him, because she found he was cheating her. This man had three sons and they have no idea what type of man their father is. He is not in jail because THAT would be bad for the family name, because you know, 'we're all so proper and law abiding.' I tell my parents to take action against him, but they refuse it every time and this really pisses me off.
#2 Evil mother.
"I was abused by my mother my whole life. One day I finally couldn't take any more and told my teacher about it. CPS was called, when my mom realized it, she went to police station and told the officer that an hour before I was gone crazy and also tried to kill my baby sister and told them that I'm mentally ill. Because of this I was removed from the school in handcuffs and was taken to the county courthouse, where I had to face my mother in a trial. I chose not to testify because I knew it wouldn't help, but in the end the judge realized that she was crazy and I wasn't."
#1 Family's little secret.
"My grandparents wanted more kids, but due to some issues my grandmother was not able to get pregnant for the second time. So, they adopted two kids from the orphanage, a toddler-aged brother and sister. My mother was seven at that time. Soon after, my grandmother got pregnant, and the girl died from a very mysterious fall down the stairs. And the boy was given to another family. A quick search turned up the girl's death record.
"I was never close to that grandmother and can't help but think back to every weird aspect of that women, and all the strange relationships she had with her family."
