The World's Largest Mega Solar Farm Built In Morocco Went Functional This Week
Morocco is famous for its food, exclusive Locations for hit movies and shows and dessert. But now, it is also famous for world's largest solar plant. This solar plant became operational this week.
This plant is spread over 2500 hectares of Sahara desert. This entire plan consists of 4 major solar plants which are interconnected to each other that makes this the biggest solar plant ever.
Checkout more details ahead.
#4 Future Plans
If everything goes right, Morocco plans to supply electricity to more than half of the country via this plant by 2020. There's a reason why Morocco is such an appropriate place for this kind of huge plant.
It is a known fact that a few hours of energy received by dessert can actually light the entire world for more than a year. Morocco is full of deserts and is therefore an appropriate place.

#3 The Plant
This plant is built with the help of Spanish major TSK Acciona Sener and is based on the concentrated solar power method without the use of photo voltaic cells.
The phase 1 is completed and the other three phases are expected to become operational by 2017. Once the four phases of this monster solar plant are completed, this project will be worth $ 9 billion.
#2 The Capacity
It is said that while this project is at its supreme, it will have the capacity to generate 580 MW of power which can be stored for a period of 8 hours. This plant is brilliantly engineered. It is made up of of 500,000 shimmering solar mirrors placed in symmetry of 800 rows. Each mirror is 12 feet in height.
This plant will prosper Morocco as it imparts 94% of its fossil fuels from various countries. Without its own resources, that costs a lot. With a own plant in hand, they will not have to shed money internationally.
Keep reading ahead for the final details.
#1 The Global Initiative
The future of our nature's health largely depends on the success of this project. With this plant, Morocco is trying to convert 42% of its annual power consumption into a renewable energy.
This project has made Morocco very popular on the map. Our world needs more such Plants for a healthier future...
