Whales Found Dead With Strange Things In Their Stomach
Let's not even get started about the condition of our planet thanks to global warming. The pattern of the climate is drastically changing. Species are getting extinct and creatures are dying in weird circumstances.
In a fresh event, Twenty-nine sperm whales were found stranded on shores around the North Sea, an area that is too shallow for the marine wildlife. And they were found in a very weird situation.
#4 The Weird Situation
The weird situation that I was talking about is rarely found. In fact, this might just be the only such incident in the history.
According to a press release from Wadden Sea National Park in Schleswig-Holstein, many of the whales had stomach FULL of plastic debris. Now this is just a start. This is not it. More things were found in their stomach.
Keep reading ahead to know more about this.
#3 Different Theories
SO along with the plastic debris, a 13-meter-long fishing net, a 70 cm piece of plastic from a car and other pieces of plastic litter were also found.
Now different people have different theories. Some suggest that the animals thought the items were food, such as squid, which is their main staple. But then at the same time, it might just be the result of humanity's shocking disregard for marine life, which has resulted in an overabundance of plastic in oceans.
#2 The Reason Of Death
Robert Habeck, environment minister for the state of Schleswig-Holstein said, "These findings show us the results of our plastic-oriented society. Animals inadvertently consume plastic and plastic waste, which causes them to suffer, and at worst, causes them to starve with full stomachs."
Reports suggest that plastic didn't kill the whales, heart failure did. At least that is what the reports suggest.
#1 The Indirect Cause
Regardless, the fact that many of their stomach were full of pollution is a horrible indictment of humans. As has been reported in the past, 80% of the plastic which is discarded on land ends up in the oceans, where it is consumed by wildlife or swirls for years in great garbage patches.
And this in turn affects the health of Aquatic animals. This must have caused heart failure in this case.
