People Believe That This Olympic Rule Should End. Are They Right?
'We are humans and not god. Therefore, we are allowed to make mistakes'. I remember one of my professors scripting this with a sky color piece of chalk on the board.
But unfortunately, the Olympic committee, does not really believe in this. At least, this is what one of their rules suggest.
#4 Following The Passion
So imagine a kid who figures out his/her passion at the age of 5 or 6. The kid wants to run. Say, you are the kid. You stay after school every day and practice. You get blisters on your feet. By the time your 10 years old, you've participated in more track meets and your whole room is full of medals and trophies.
Now suddenly, the pressure increases. You're 18 years old and you can jump higher, run faster, and endure more pain than more than 99% of the world's population. You are sure of glory. This is where that one Olympic rule can kill your heart and shatter your dreams.
Keep reading ahead to know more about this rule.
#3 The Rule
This is exactly the story of a 21-year-old French hurdler, Wilhem Belocian. This man was disqualified in his event for one false start.
The rule that we were talking about is 'The False Start' rule. This rule is regarded as the "cruelest rule in the Olympics" and for good reason: it ruins athletes lives.
#2 Television Broadcasters In Picture
This man sacrificed thousands of hours of his life, relationships, to get where he was. Every morning workout, every time he puked, every injury he rehabilitated from, every ice bath, every labored breath had led up to this moment.
But a simple rule ruined it all for him. The rule was implemented 6 years ago in order to speed up track meets, which were slowed down by false starts. This caused television broadcasts to run over their scheduled allotted time. You'd think they'd allocate one warning to each competitor but no, no warning is given.
#1 Support On Social Media
People on the Internet came together to support this athlete against the cruel False Start rule. Twitter was flooded with support tweets.
All we can say is that we wish Olympic committee looks into the matter and alter's it's cruel needless views.
