#2 The Reason For The Initiative

The blue line refers to the term "thin blue line," which is a reference to police making the difference between a civilized society and anarchy. Placing a thin, blue line on your curb means that you support your local police and other law enforcement officers.

Well, the reason why Anthony Welichko started the initiative is after a local police officer was shot in a recent execution. The Safe Harbor movement, as the blue line movement is called, is a grass roots symbol of support, appreciation, and backup of local law enforcement officers serving the neighborhood.

Welichko even stated that assaulting a police officer in his neighborhood might be "hazardous to your health."

Online bloggers discovered the Safe Harbor movement on Facebook and had been writing about it online, spreading the word. Facebook support for the thin blue line registered over 65,000 supporters at last count.

You should totally see the VIDEO ahead to understand more.

In the video, you can clearly hear what exactly is this entire case and what does these blue markings stand for. This is what Anthony Welichko wrote on his fb page a few weeks a go.

"The Safe Harbor Initiative:
To all law enforcement who see this line, know that the residents of this home appreciate your service and dedication to keeping the peace. Know that when you enter the neighborhood and see these lines that you are not alone or without "back-up". We do not need the media to make our voices of support for our police and emergency services heard ( though it would be nice). Lastly, if you are in my neighborhood and mean to harm a member of law enforcement, know that decision may be hazardous to you health as someone has that officers back! Please share."
