Gone are those days when blindness was a thing. With advancements in technology almost every minute, we shouldn't be worried about the blindness anymore. But firstly, how many of you have heard about retinitis pigmentosa? It is an inherited disease that causes the degeneration of retina over time and a person with functional eyesight loses retinal performance over time and subsequently becomes totally blind within years.

Now, this won't be an issue in future. We'll explain you this by using a relevant example. Carmen Torres is one of such patients who started to lose her sight when she was 18 years old. See what happens next with her on further pages...

So continuing the story of Carmen Torres, She was declared officially blind at the age of 45 years and lost the hope of ever seeing again. Say hello to the Argus II Retinal Prosthesis System that has benefited 100 people across the globe and given them the gift of sight again that was, for all practical purposes, considered lost forever.

Thanks to this technology, Torres can see everything again. She can see stars and birds and flowers and everything else. How amazing is this technology, isn't it? So are you curious to know about how this technology functions? Check out the video on the next page to know every single details about this amazing technology!

#1 Bionic Eye

This Bionic eye would allow blind women to see everything clearly again. This technology works by making use of a prosthetic and a signal receiving glasses that work in conjunction with one another. The glass captures the images of what is being seen via small camera that has been built into the framework. This image is then transferred to a tiny wearable computer that has also been incorporated into the glasses and subsequently transmits the image to the eye implant. Now that's quite a complex process!

Talking from patients point of view, they also have to undergo therapy for understanding these images that are transmitted via the eye implant. As per Torres, it is like learning a new language. So we hope that this technology helps tons of them out there. Check out the video to know about this new technology and Torres's experience with it...
