With the advancement in science, every day we read about new discoveries here and there. But not every discovery is as pretty as this one. In 2008, on a dig in the First Nation's Menominee Reservation in Wisconsin, archaeologists made a small but stunning discovery, a tiny clay pot.

As we mentioned earlier, the discovery doesn't seem to be a big one at the first glimpse, but this little piece of pottery was determined to be about 800 years old. Yes, this indeed is that old. And inside that pot? What they found inside the pot is amazing.

What they found inside this 800 year old clay pot is something that changes how we're looking at extinction, preservation, and food storage, as well as how humans have influenced the planet in their time on it. Confused? Well, don't be. Inside, archaeologists found a stash of seeds. The seeds were probably buried in the pot as a method of storing food supplies. Everyone was excited about what will happen after this approximately 800 year old seeds are cultivated. Therefore, seven years after making this stunning discovery, students in Winnipeg decided to plant the 800-year-old seeds and, to everyone's amazement, something grew! This is getting amazing with every passing line.

Out of the seeds, big and huge Squash grew. The squash was named Gete-okosomin. It means "Big Old Squash" in the Menominee language - and big it certainly is! Now, they're working to cultivate the squash so that it doesn't go extinct - again. Now how cool is that?
