That picture you see above is not that of an old man but that of a four-year-old boy called Bayezid Hossain.

Bayezid is from Bangladesh and suffers from a condition called Progeria. It is a genetic condition also known as the Hutchinson-Gilford syndrome, a progressive genetic disorder which makes young children to age eight faster than the normal rate.

This condition affects less than one in one-million people. The life span of those affected fromthis genetic condition is about 13 years and are constantly under the risk of heart attacks or strokes.

Bayezid has also a rare disorder called cutis laxa caausing his skin to hang loosely on his body. Thus giving him a swollen face and sunken eyes appearance.

Due to his appearance, Bayezid has to deal with a harsh world that is afraid of him in more ways than one.

Bayezid was born to Tripti Khatun when she was just 14.

As for his condition, Bayezid's mother says,"Bayezid only learned to walk aged three but he had a full set of teeth at three months old."She also says Bayezid suffers from constant pain in his joints.

"His physical growth is completely abnormal but mentally, he has wonderful conversation, very aware and is very intuitive for his age." She and doctors were completely shocked by Bayezid's appearance when he was first born. "I was terrified to see him when he was born. He was just flesh and bones. He looked like an alien and it was heartbreaking for me."

Tripti Khatun constantly worries that her son's chance of survival will lessen due to the family low income. It's with grief she says, "his situation remains the same and he's probably getting even worse day by day. My son isn't a normal baby and it's tragic for any parent to know that his child will not survive for long."

Despite the chronic pains Bayezid suffers from, his family tries to keep him as active as possible. Tripti says that her son is very well aware of his condition but prefers to overlook it. She says that with the immediate family like his cousins, Bayezid is friendly and funny.Just like any kid his age....

Bayezid's parents live every day with the constant burden of their son's condition and their inability to do anything about it. But Bayezid is determined to live his life without any woes.

Slowly, those around Bayezid seem to be accepting him as a part of their community which is a good thing! And Bayezid is most definitely happy with this acceptance. Catch a glimpse of his journey in this video!
