Here's What Happened When I Dressed Like Rachel Green From 'Friends' For A Week
Inspired by Rachel Green’s outfit I planned to get some for myself but soon I realised she wasn’t such a big style icon. Disappointed, though, my eyes were hunting for some good stuff amongst ugly peasant blouses, cargo pants, platform flip flops, dresses over pants, mum jeans which stand outdated in today’s time.
Personally, I admired Rachel in classic pieces - white sneakers, black miniskirts, simple fitted tees, plaid skirts, and various denim pieces (like skirts and jackets). Soon noticing that I have many of these items in my closet which made me follow her outfit taste and make me shop.
During this experiment, I made mental notes about the clothing I need to add to my future wardrobe collection – baseball tees, sleek grey mini dress & one of those wrap dresses from her later seasons.
#7 Day 1
If you remember the dress Rachel wore in Season 1, Episode 15 - white button-down under a black pinafore dress which she used to accessorise with a black purse and black tights.
I decide to wear it on the Day 1 when I had to run errands and had some work at Starbucks. The best thing that happened that day was Friends theme song that came on the radio, “I’ll Be There For You.”
It appeared as if the universe was reminding me I was Rachel Green for the week. Though I was feeling very put-together in that outfit.
#6 Day 2
On the Day 2, I decided to wear Rachel’s football game dress, which most people agree she can pull off well. These oversized, two fitted tees layered look like a baseball tee with socks and sneakers making Rachel look cute and sexy.
Trying my best to replicate her colour scheme: green, black, and white, I borrowed my brother’s large sweatpants and a baseball cap.
Honestly, I felt that it wasn’t a great outfit for exercising and I didn’t look cute like Rachel maybe it looks more appealing with long hair but with short hair, I just looked like a boy.

#5 Day 3
The All black outfit of this chic in Season 4, Episode 14 which seems like a hardcore flirting at work and a little revealing one. Not sure if it was a dress or a top with a skirt but I chose the latter and this was the time when I desperately went shopping to get a mini skirt for my wardrobe.
Don’t ask me where I found it but I paired it with a choker, thinking of wearing it out on a date. Though this outfit was opposite to my previous day and I couldn’t I imagine wearing it to work as she did maybe because my top was more low cut than hers.
#4 Day 4
By now I had started missing my wardrobe collection so I thought of having a fusion of two basic outfits from Season 10, Episode 7 and Season 3, Episode 9.
It appeared as Rachel’s typical outfit – a striped top paired with the black mini skirt and a denim jacket for warmth. I added knee high boots instead of tights and since it was my normal dress up I felt comfortable all through the day.
#3 Day 5
You might be thinking that I have missed out on the most popular schoolgirl outfit?
True, right? Yeah, the experiment would be incomplete without recreating Rachel’s schoolgirl outfit from Season 1, Episode 19.
Luckily, I had a plaid miniskirt but borrowed my sister’s white turtleneck and white knee-high socks with which I paired black shoes, like what Rachel wore. Though my mom liked it when she saw but I felt uncomfortable in public and most importantly “Sexy Schoolgirl” title was not what I was looking for.
Not knowing what to say but that’s for sure that I’m not as nostalgic as her for my school days.

#2 Day 6
It’s time to wear the outfit from Season 10’s 3rd episode, which made me do this experiment. The popular tie front tops are the damn hot outfits which Rachel wears and seeing this I bought one for myself.
I wore it to the bar and my friends reported that every guy checked me out when I crossed the room, though mine is a dress while hers is a top. It was just because of the crisscrossing threads over my cleavage.
I am sure it would work for you too if you want a guy to look at you.
#1 Day 7
So we come to the end of the experiment and here I decide to wear something comfortable from Season 7, Episode 6.
I had a similar long leather jacket – Matrix style as what Rachel wore and paired it with the plaid shirt which I unbuttoned to show off my black bra, with choker and black pants – wearing this made me realise that I own an outdated jacket.
In the end, I wish I had Rachel’s hair so that I could seriously get the exact Rachel Green’s style.
