The Twins Were Conjoined At The Heart But A Year Later, One Operation Had Changed Everybody's Life!
We all face challenges in our at some point of time, but these twin sisters, Knatayle Hope Mata and Adeline Faith Mata, were born with it. Talking about her daughters, Elysse introduces Knatayle as, "my little wild one is EVERYWHERE! She's walking, climbing, trying to run!... silly, smart, determined to do everything and very loving!"
#6 The Stronger One!
Adeline being physically weak, she won't let you get a hint of it by her nature and activities. Elysse describes Adeline Faith, "was on the vent 24/7, now she is able to be off her vent while she is awake and only using 1-2 liters of oxygen which is amazing! She's scooting around on her bottom and pulling herself up to a standing position, she walks with assistance but is still very stiff and you can tell her legs are weak! But she tries hard!"
But what went wrong ? Continue on the next page to find it out.
#5 The Dates Would Be Remembered By The Family..
Elysse gave birth to these pretty girls but they were not separated then. The Mata sisters were conjoined at "chest wall, lungs, pericardial sac (the lining of the heart), diaphragm, liver, intestines, colon and pelvis."
It was 17th of February after the sisters were operated for around 26 hours by a team of 12 surgeons, six anesthesiologists, and eight surgical nurses, the connection was finally separated and the little girls were able to live on their own as two individuals.
#4 First Of Its Kind!
It was for the first time that this team had come forward and kept their best foot forward to make it a success. Elysse, over joyously expresses her feeling "We are so grateful to all of the surgeons and everyone who cared for our daughters and gave them the incredible chance to live separate lives. We know how much planning and time went into this surgery and we are so blessed to be at a place like Texas Children’s where we have access to the surgeons and caretakers that have made this dream a reality. We also want to express our gratitude to all of the people that have prayed and provided support to our family over the last 10 months."
But there's someone else who loves the twins more than anything.
#3 Waiting For The Time To Come.
Seeing the girls growing beautifully amazing, Elysse adds, "They’re just branching out and growing into individuals and separate personalities. They don’t like each other half the time. I’m just excited about the next years and what they’re going to do. Hopefully, they do big things in life."
Though the sisters might not like each other but their big brother, Azariah, loves to the core. "He's turning the tree house in the backyard into a Batman cave and he hopes his sisters will play with him there soon."
#2 Daddy Be The Happiest.
It had been a tough time for the Mata family. "All the normal stuff, that's what I want to do. Cleaning diapers, picking up the house, all that stuff that nobody wants to do, that's what I want to do right now because the last few months have been super crazy," Daddy Eric remarks seeing his family together, back to home.
