As we all well know, their love story was that of fiction. But it was so powerful to have touched our hearts in the way it did.

But aboard the Titanic was yet another love story....

We were given a brief glimpse into it and we like many others would have missed it.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet the real Jack and Rose of Titanic- Isidor and Ida Straus.

Theirs is a love story that might not have been as exciting as one might have thought but it was beautiful for them, for it was true love.

Remember this scene? It was a part of the original trailer. While most thought it was to show the devastation of the Titanic sinking, it was also a tribute to the real-life counterparts Isidor and Ida Straus.

That's not all Isidor and Ida Straus founded and owned Macy's department. But their legacy is the love they had for each other. It was true love after all.

It is said they were inseparable and had a harmonious marriage until "death did(them) apart" after they boarded the Titanic on April 14, 1912 to return home from their trip to Germany.

#1 So goes the story...

When the Titanic began sinking, the women and children were evacuated first and so Ida was asked to get into a lifeboat but she refused to go without her husband. Even though Isidor was given a seat on the lifeboat he refused saying there were still many women and children who needed to be evacuated.

"I will not go before the other men", is what Isidor said.

And so Ida said,"I will not be separated from my husband. As we have lived, so will we die, together."

They were last seen holding hands as they sat on the deck chairs as panicked people ran around them, trying to get into a life boat. They held onto each other until a wave swallowed them into the sea.

Isidor's body was recovered but Ida's was never found.

On their memorial it says- "Many waters cannot quench love - neither can the floods drown it."

Here's a deleted scene from the 'Titanic' that shows more about the couple.
