12 Unsuccessful Takes That Turned Movies Into Masterpieces
Making a movie is a long and complicated process and can’t be 100% controlled due to which things might not go as they were scripted. While some unplanned scenes got edited, there are those which actually found a place in the movie.
Here are some of the scenes that were mistakes on the set but without them, the movies would be hard to imagine.
The Usual Suspects
The face recognition scene was supposed to be a serious one but the funny acts of the stars on the sets forced the producer to leave the scene like that.
Jamie Lee Curtis fell accidentally and the actor, Arnold moved to help her, but the actress stayed in the role and continued to dance. The director decided to keep the scene as it matched the clumsy housewife role she was playing.
When the actress was gifted a necklace, Richard Gere slammed the box as the lady stretched her hand out. The scene was decided to be left as it is and not edited again.
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
The actor missed the aim and the knife was headed towards Viggo Mortensen and it was defended by him very well.
From Dusk Till Dawn
The Vampire’s phrase “Welcome to Slavery” was well responded by Clooney and he said “No, thanks. I already had a wife.”
The scene where Peter was learning to use his spider-web was well captured and was decided to be kept.
Thor: The Dark World
Entering into his flat, Thor hanging his hammer up on the rack was a fantastic funny scene that matched his character.
There was no cat mentioned in the script but Don Corleone simply took it in his hands as the cat came on the sets. This scene where Don was caressing the cat while talking about beating a man was left as it is in the movie.
Robert Downey Jr., with his charismatic food habit, got approvals from the director and his habit was added to the character in the movie.
Mission Impossible 2
Tom Cruise nearly escaped hurting his eye in the scene with his partner who swung the knife at him. The safety cable at the handle of knife saved Tom’s life.
Leonardo Caprio’s famous phrase "I’m the king of the world!" was his own improvisation as per his nature and was welcomed in the movie.
The script did not mention the narrow escape of main characters being hit by a taxi. However, Dustin Hoffman remained in his character and that’s how his famous phrase "Hey, can’t you see I’m walking here?!" stayed in the movie.
