The Thaipuism Festival
Celebrated in the southern part of India, this festival involves some of the most intense body piercings known to man. Some practitioners believe that they get more blessings with more pain that they can endure.
El Colacho, Baby Jumping Festival
This celebration occurs every year on the feast of Corpus Christi in the Spanish village of Castrillo de Murcia wherein any baby born in past 12 months is placed on a mattress on the street and all the men take turns jumping over them.
Mud Festival – South Korea
The coastal town of Boryeong hosts an annual Mud Festival with music, inflatables, zip-lining, and a whole host of mud-related activities such as mud wrestling and mud fireworks.
Monkey Buffet Festival, Thailand
Isn’t that cooler to watch 3000 monkeys feasting on fruits and vegetables, ice cream and other foods? This is what happens in the month of November in Thailand.
La Tomatina, Spain
The celebration on the streets of Bunol, involves people gathering to compete in a giant food fight that involves over a hundred tons of overripe tomatoes.
With only diapers around, the Japanese men run around during this festival considering it to be sacred and with traces back to hundreds of years.
Hair Freezing Day, Canada
This annual contest involves people freezing their hair in weird and fantastic shapes with water and the frigid Canadian air.
Night of the Radishes, Mexico
Every year before Christmas, the vendors whip out specially grown, oversized radishes and sculpt them into some really cool shapes.
The Bog Snorkeling Championship, UK
This is one of the wildest races wherein the locals and visitors armed with snorkels and fins voluntarily dive into the peat bog to compete for the title of Champion.
Battle of the Oranges, Italy
Every year, the people of Ivrea form teams and recreate the 1194 revolt against the king but this fight doesn’t involve the use of weapons rather they use oranges.
The Viking Festival, Iceland
Every year, visitors from various parts of the world travel back in time and convert themselves to lead the life of Vikings in this historical festival in Iceland.
