Israel is one of the most loved and respected person in the Hawaii history. An amazing musician, an entertainer and a sovereign activist, Israel had earned love and fame of his people because of his amazing gentle voice and nature. Born on May 20,1959 in Honolulu to to Henry "Hank" Kaleialoha Naniwa Kamakawiwoʻole, Jr. and Evangeline "Angie" Leinani Kamakawiwoʻole,
A Musician, Entertainer And An Activist
Israel grew up to be a musician. He was also known as Braddah Iz (Brother Iz). He had a giant body shape but an amazing gentle voice because of which he was also known as the "Gentle Giant". He became famous outside Hawaii in 1993 with the release of his album, " Facing the Future". Despite having a huge name and fame, Israel fought for the rights of the people of Hawaii. His songs were accompanied by ukulele guitars.
Death And Honor
Israel had to face a lot of health problems because of his extra weight. He had an extremely obese body because of which he had several health problems like respiratory, heart and what not. He died at a mere age of 38 on June 26th, 1997. The Hawaii state flag flew at half-staff on July 10, 1997, the day of Kamakawiwoʻole's funeral. His koa wood coffin lay in state at the state capital building in Honolulu. He was the third person in history and the first non government official to be awarded this honor.
