13 Things You Didn't Know About 'Grease.'
"Hopelessly Devoted To You" was eventually filmed and recorded after the movie had wrapped because producers wanted sandy to have a solo ballad and it earned the film's only Oscar nomination, for Best Music - Original Song.
#12 Not a right fit.
You all must be familiar with Carrie Fishers little role in the Star Wars films as Princess Leia. She was considered to play sandy in "Grease" before Olivia Newton-John.
Kleiser's old college roommate, George Lucas, happened to be finishing up a film called Star Wars, the director of Grease, was in a search of perfect Sandy. He saw her film a battle scene in Star Wars, Episode IV: A New Hope, but wasn't convinced she would be the right fit.
#11 The Change.
Jamie Donnelly had prematurely gray hair, so she had to dye it black for filming in order to play Jan.
#10 Blurred and Removed.
The producers of the Grease had a product placement deal with Coca-Cola,but it fell through. So there were several shots of Coca-Cola in the film including its products and signs, which were blurred out or digitally removed.

Dinah Manoff, who played Marty, couldn't dance, so she was missing from most of the dance scenes, and sat out of every dance scene.

#7 So quick.

After filming this scene for the movie, all the cast members got sick, because the water was still and full of bacteria.
#5 The Tribute.
The lyrics "Elvis Elvis let me be, keep that pelvis far from me" in the song "Look at Me I'm Sandra Dee" was a tribute to Elvis Presley, because Elvis died on August 16, 1977, the same day the scene was filmed.
#4 Age is just a number.
Even though the actors in the film were all playing the role of college students, in reality they were actually much older in age.
Oliva Newton-John was 28, Stockard Channing was 33, Kelly Ward was 20, Jamie Donnelly was 30, Barry Pearl was 27, Didi Conn was 25, Michael Tucci was 31, Dinah Manoff was 19, Jeff Conaway was 26, and John Travolta was 23.

The hickeys on Rizzo's neck in the diner scene were authentic, and it was given to her by Jeff Conaway, who played Kenickie.
Jeff Conway who played Kenickie, had a major crush on on Olivia Newton-John, and was nervous around her on set.
Later he married Rona Newton-John, Olivia's sister.
#1 She did it.
Olivia Newton-John requested a screen test before she accepted the role of Sandy, because she was not sure she'd make a convincing high-schooler.
After shooting the "drive-in" scene, she was happy with how it looked and took the role.
